Place2Be

Place2Be is a National Children’s Charity working with 282 primary and secondary schools across the UK, providing in-school support to help improve the resilience and emotional well-being of pupils.

At Brentfield School we support children in all areas of their development, this includes supporting children academically and with their physical and mental wellbeing. The Place2Be works with children, teachers, parents and carers too, providing therapeutic support to address social, emotional and behavioural problems. Place2Be provide a safe space – The Place2be room – where children can express their feelings through talking, creative work and play. The Place2Be helps build children’s confidence and self-esteem, enabling them to cope with difficult life events, establish friendships and focus in class. This in turn makes school a happier place to be for all children and the school staff.

How Place2Be helps pupils

Pupils can find help with friendship issues and other worries such as moving house or school by choosing to visit Place2Talk. Children can book to see Natasha or Meera and attend on their own or with friend during lunch time.

Place2Be also works with children individually, offering regular time-tabled support for those who will benefit most. We will always meet with parents and carers and gain your permission before any individual work takes place. Natasha also offers small group and circle time support. Children in Year 6 can attend small group work to support them with their move to Year 7.

There is a dedicated Place2Be room inside the school where children can go to express and think about their worries, through talking, creative work and play. This helps children to find new ways of coping with difficulties so they don’t get in the way of friendships or learning.

Other support from Place2Be

Place2Be also offers support and advice for parents and carers, as well as teachers and school staff. Please do get in touch with our School Project Manager, Natasha Davis to find out more.
